Make SELF-CARE part of your daily routine.
How are you taking care of yourself?
Here are 5 Self-Care practices that don’t cost a thing:
1. Ask for Help – Asking for help is a healthy natural response to challenging situations. Seek help, consultation, support, and ideas from colleagues, mentors, and others in the business community. Attending networking events is a great way to find resources. Organizations like SCORE, the Small Business Association, and the Chamber of Commerce are great places to start.
2. Set Boundaries – Make sure you adhere to the boundaries you set for your business. Turn off the lights and lock the door at the close of business hours. Go home! Your family deserves the same love and attention you pour into your business every day.
3. Learn to Say NO – It’s okay to say no when your plate is full, your tank is empty, and it’s something that you are just not passionate about doing—for example, pro bono work. Don’t be guilted into doing something you will regret later and may lead to resentment.
4. Express Gratitude – Take time to reflect and appreciate what you are grateful for in your life. Little things matter too! Don’t forget to let others know the gratitude you feel. Studies have shown that practicing gratitude can decrease depression and anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, increase optimism and reduce loneliness.
5. Eat healthily and Exercise – The World Health Organization reports that unhealthy diets and a lack of exercise are leading health risks. Put yourself at the top of your to-do list daily—schedule time to exercise and eat a healthy lunch. Eating at your desk while checking emails or attending a webinar doesn’t count. Take a brain break. If you are not okay, your business is not okay!
I wish you peace, love, joy, and happiness always!
